With further innovation following the introduction of the iPhone this has been another fascinating year reviewing some of the top apps available. I have produced a shortlist of the Apps of the Year. Competition has been characteristically tough. Ilium's Newsbreak broke new ground with downloading podcasts, Spb introducing a solid Wallet and Opera pushed its Mobile browser to the limit with mobile browsing taking off. It does not stop there with the long awaiting update to Lakeridge Software Wisbar Advance and new apps in the market like SBSH PhoneWeaver and Spb Traveler.
This is a personal list from the view of a casual day to day user. The update to Spb PocketPlus made this little gem even more of a must in how it begs to be the first app of choice when I start up my device. Spb took second spot as well for its innovative Mobile Shell that set new standards for a practical UI that really works - until PointUI Home arrived in December there simply was no real competition. Holding third spot is PocketMax PhoneAlarm because of its utter necessity and for holding off tough new competition from Spb and SBSH. Here are my top three apps of 2007.
